The Djibouti Franc, also known as the Djiboutian Franc, is the official currency of Djibouti. It was introduced in 1948 and replaced the French Franc as the national currency. Although the Djibouti Franc is the commonly used term, it also has other synonyms such as the DJF, Djiboutian currency, Djiboutian monetary unit, and the Franc de Djibouti. Due to its economic dependency on neighboring countries like Ethiopia, the Djibouti Franc and its exchange rate are highly volatile. Despite this, the Djibouti Franc remains an important currency and plays a significant role in the economy of Djibouti.
