The Ebro River is the second longest river in Spain, stretching over 900 km from its source in the Cantabrian Mountains to its delta in the Mediterranean Sea. It is known as the Rio Ebro or the Iberus in ancient times. Other synonyms for the Ebro River are Ebre in Catalan and Ebro in Aragonese language. Additionally, it is also called the Long River because of its significant length and the River of Life because it has been a vital source of water for agriculture, industry, and wildlife over the centuries. The different synonyms for the Ebro River reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of the regions through which it flows.
