Jacqueline Cochran was an American pioneer aviator who broke numerous records in aviation and paved the way for women in aviation. Some of the synonymous names for Jacqueline Cochran include "Queen of the Sky," "Flying Queen," "High Priestess of Aviation," and "First Lady of Flight." As the first woman to fly in the Bendix Trophy Race and set speed records, she proved that women can excel in traditionally male-dominated fields. Her contributions to aviation also earned her the Distinguished Service Medal and the Congressional Gold Medal. Cochran's legacy lives on as an inspiration to women in aviation and in all fields where women have had to fight for recognition and opportunity.
