The A.E.F, or American Expeditionary Forces, was a term used during World War I to describe the United States military forces sent to Europe. Synonyms for A.E.F include the American troops, the American army or the American soldiers. It can also be referred to as the U.S. Expeditionary forces or the Doughboys. The term Doughboy was given to the American soldiers because of the uniforms they wore, which included a helmet that resembled a cooking pot. These synonyms are still used today to describe the brave men and women who have served in the American military, and their efforts to defend their country will always be remembered.
