Acipenser Transmontanus, also known as the white sturgeon, is a fish species belonging to the family Acipenseridae. The white sturgeon is often synonymously referred to as the Pacific sturgeon due to its natural habitat range. Some other common synonyms for this species include the Sacramento sturgeon, Oregon sturgeon, montana sturgeon, and Columbia River sturgeon. The white sturgeon is one of the largest freshwater fish species in North America, with the potential to grow up to 20 feet in length and weigh more than 1,500 pounds. They are highly valued for their caviar, which can fetch high prices on the international market.
