Acquired meningoceles, also known as acquired meningoceals, or secondary meningoceals, refer to a rare medical condition affecting the spinal cord. This condition is characterized by the abnormal protrusion of the meninges, the protective coverings of the brain and spinal cord. While there may not be many synonyms for acquired meningoceles, it is sometimes interchangeably referred to as acquired meningoceals. These terms describe the same condition, originating from trauma, surgical intervention, infection, or other factors. Although rare, acquired meningoceles require prompt diagnosis and appropriate medical intervention to prevent further complications and ensure the well-being of affected individuals.
