Agathis dammara, also known as the damar or kauri pine, is a tall evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. It produces a resin that has been used for centuries in a variety of traditional medicines and crafts. Synonyms for this species include Agathis robusta, Agathis silbae, and Agathis spathulata. Outside of its natural range, it is often cultivated as an ornamental tree for its attractive foliage and symmetrical growth habit. Its timber is used for a variety of purposes such as furniture making and construction due to its durability and resistance to decay.
