Al-Jama'a al-Islamiyyah al-Muqatilah bi-Libya, sometimes referred to as simply "Al-Jama'a", is a Libyan Islamist militant group that emerged in the aftermath of the 2011 Libyan Civil War. Their ideology is based on Sunni Islam and they are opposed to the secular government of Libya. While it is important to refer to groups by their official name, there are several synonyms that can be used to refer to Al-Jama'a al-Islamiyyah al-Muqatilah bi-Libya. These include "Islamic Fighting Group", "Ibn al-Khattab Brigades", and "Ansar al-Sharia Libya". Each of these names has been used by the group or by others to refer to them in various contexts.
