Atactic abasia, also known as cerebellar ataxia, is a medical condition that affects an individual's ability to coordinate their movements. It is characterized by unsteady walking, clumsiness, and a lack of balance. There are several synonyms for this condition, including cerebellar ataxia, dysmetria, dyssynergia, and adiadochokinesia. These terms are used to describe the same condition, whereby an individual finds it difficult to coordinate their movements due to damage in the cerebellum region of the brain. Atactic abasia is often caused by injury, stroke, infection, or degenerative diseases, and can be treated through various forms of therapy and medication.
