Aurora particles, also known as auroral particles, are electrically charged particles that enter the Earth's atmosphere near the magnetic poles. These particles are also referred to as geomagnetic storms, magnetic storms, and solar storms. They are produced by the collision of charged particles from the solar wind with the Earth's magnetic field. These collisions excite atoms and molecules in the upper atmosphere, resulting in the gorgeous aurora borealis or aurora australis. Aurora particles can cause disruptions to communication and navigation systems, as well as power grids. They are studied by scientists to better understand the effects of space weather on Earth.
