Austrocedrus Chilensis is commonly known as the Chilean cedar or Patagonian cypress. However, there are other terms and synonyms used to refer to this species of tree. In Argentina, it is sometimes called cipres de la cordillera or cipres de las Guaitecas. In Chile, it may also be referred to as cipres de las baldías or cipres de las piñas. Other less common synonyms for Austrocedrus Chilensis include Libocedrus chilensis, Pilgerodendron uviferum, and Widdringtonia chilensis. Despite the variation in names, this majestic conifer tree can be easily identified by its unique growth habit and characteristics.
