Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a term used to describe a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects social, communication, and behavior skills. However, there are various other terms that are used to describe this disorder, which include Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), and Atypical Autistic Disorder. Each of these terms is used depending on the severity of the symptoms and the level of impairment experienced by the individual. Nonetheless, irrespective of the term used, individuals diagnosed with ASD require a tailored approach to treatment and support, along with a better understanding of the condition by those around them.
