Bacterial blight, also known as bacterial leaf blight, is a devastating disease that affects crops such as rice, tomatoes, and beans. It is caused by a group of bacteria known as Xanthomonas, which infects the leaves of the plant, causing yellowing, wilting and eventually death. For species-specific conditions, the disease has different synonyms such as Bacterial Bark Blight, Bacterial Brown Spot, Bacterial Pustule, Bacterial Speck, Bacterial Wilt, and Blackarm Bacterial Blight. The significance of this disease lies in its ability to spread rapidly and reduce crop yields significantly; thus, early detection, prevention and management of bacterial blight are critical measures to mitigate the losses.
