Barongs, the traditional embroidered shirts from the Philippines, are known by a variety of synonyms across different regions in the country. In the Tagalog language, Barongs are also referred to as "Camisa de Chino" or Chinese shirt, a nod to the Chinese handiwork that inspired the intricate embroidery designs. In the Visayan region, Barongs are alternatively called "Barong Tagalog" or "Barong Bisaya." Additionally, the Tausug people call the Barong a "Burung Tausug" while the Maranaos refer to it as "Pinaingud." These various names reflect not only the cultural diversity of the Philippines but also the enduring importance of Barongs in Philippine society.
