Basal Cell Epithelioma, commonly known as basal cell carcinoma, is a type of skin cancer that originates in the basal cells of the epidermis. In medical literature, it may also be referred to as basal cell carcinoma in situ, basaloid carcinoma, or basaloma. Other synonyms for basal cell epithelioma include cutaneous basal cell carcinoma, rodent ulcer, and basal cell tumor. This slow-growing malignancy is one of the most common types of skin cancer, accounting for nearly 80% of all cases. While it is slow to spread, it can still lead to disfigurement and, in rare cases, can become life-threatening if left untreated. Therefore, early detection and treatment are crucial in managing basal cell epithelioma.
