"Base runner" is a term used in baseball to describe a player who is currently running to, or occupying, one of the bases. There are several synonyms for this term, including "base stealer," which refers to a player who is actively attempting to advance to the next base; "runner," which is a more general term for any player who is on the basepath; and "pinch runner," which is a player who is substituted into the game for the sole purpose of running the bases in place of a slower or injured player. Other terms that may be used include "baserunner" and "baseman".
