Beefeaters are the famed guardians of the Tower of London, instantly recognizable in their distinctive red and gold uniforms. The term is synonymous with the Yeomen Warders, who have protected this iconic fortress for centuries. Throughout history, they have also been known as Tower Wardens, or simply Warders, and their duty is to safeguard the Tower, its treasures, and the Crown Jewels. Other informal names for these distinguished soldiers include Ravenmasters, due to their responsibility for the tower's resident ravens, and King's Bodyguards, because of their role in safeguarding the monarch's person.
