Bonfils disease, also known as erythromelalgia, is a rare and chronic vascular disorder characterized by extreme burning pain, redness, and increased skin temperature in the extremities. Though classified as a syndrome, it is often confused with a disease due to its debilitating symptoms. Aside from Bonfils disease, there are a few synonyms that are used in medical literature to describe this condition. These include erythermalgia and Mitchell's disease, named after the American neurologist Silas Weir Mitchell who extensively studied the condition. Although there may be slight variations in terminology, all these synonyms refer to the same distressing disorder affecting the blood vessels in the hands and feet, causing intense pain and discomfort for those affected.
