The Book of Ecclesiastes is a composition in the Hebrew Bible that is also known by other names. It is sometimes referred to as the Book of Qohelet, which is the Hebrew term for the book's author. The book is also called the Preacher, as Qohelet identifies himself as a preacher at the start of the text. The Book of Ecclesiastes has been described as a philosophical work, and as such, it is also referred to as the Philosopher. Additionally, some scholars consider the work to be a form of wisdom literature, leading to its use as the Book of Wisdom. Despite these varying names, they all refer to the same canonical book in the Hebrew Bible.
