Bushfighting, also known as bush warfare or guerilla warfare, refers to combat operations carried out in dense vegetation or forests. The term can be used interchangeably with terms such as jungle warfare, woodland warfare, and forest fighting. Other synonyms for bushfighting might include insurgency, resistance, partisans, and irregular warfare. These terms are generally used to describe conflicts in which a small, less organized group of combatants rely on surprise, maneuver, and hit-and-run tactics to overcome a larger, better-equipped enemy force. Despite its challenges, bushfighting has been used successfully throughout history, including in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and various African conflicts.
