Butea Monosperma, also known as flame of the forest, is a tropical tree species indigenous to South Asia. Its leaves, flowers, and seeds have various medicinal properties and are used in traditional folk medicine. In various parts of India and Nepal, Butea Monosperma is called Palash, Dhak, and Tesu among other names. The tree is also referred to as Bastard Teak, Bengal Kino, and Parrot Tree. Additionally, in Sanskrit, it is known as Agnimantha and in Ayurveda, it is considered a prominent medicinal herb. The tree's bright orange-red flowers serve as a natural dye for textiles and are used in Hindu religious ceremonies as well.
