The California Bungalow, also known as the Craftsman Bungalow, is a popular architectural style that was prevalent in the United States during the early 20th century. This type of home can also be referred to as a American Craftsman, Arts and Crafts, or Prairie Style Bungalow. Each of these styles shares many of the same characteristics such as low-pitched roofs with wide eaves, open floor plans and use of natural materials. The California Bungalow also incorporates elements of Spanish Colonial Revival design, making it unique to its region. Other synonyms for this style of home include Arts and Crafts Cottage, Craftsman Style Bungalow, and American Foursquare.
