There are various synonyms for Canopic jar, which is an ancient Egyptian container used for storing the internal organs of deceased people. Some of the synonyms commonly used are Canopic container, Canopic vase, Canopic pot, or simply Canopic. These containers usually had lids shaped like the heads of four different gods, namely Imsety, Hapy, Duamutef, and Qebehsenuef. The Canopic jars were believed to be used as vessels to help the dead person during the journey to the afterlife. These jars were made of various materials, including limestone, pottery, and alabaster. Despite having unique names, all these synonyms refer to the same funerary objects used in ancient Egypt.
