The Carmelite order, also known as the Order of Carmelites, is a religious order within the Catholic Church. Other synonyms for this order include the White Friars, due to the white robes worn by the members, and the Brothers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Additionally, the Carmelites are sometimes referred to as the Scapular Friars, as they wear a brown scapular over their white robes as part of their habit. Within the order, there are multiple branches or provinces that operate in different regions of the world, such as the North American Province, the British Province, and the Indonesian Province.
