Carolina Hemlock, the common name of the coniferous tree, can also be referred to as Tsuga caroliniana or Southern Hemlock. This evergreen tree can be found in the Southeastern United States and is part of the pine family. Another synonym for Carolina Hemlock is the Carolina Hemlock-Spruce. Despite its name, the Carolina Hemlock is actually a hemlock species. The tree can grow up to 90 feet tall and has a distinct narrow crown and drooping branches. In addition to being used for timber, the Carolina Hemlock is also an important source of food and shelter for various wildlife species.
