Continental currency, also known as Continental dollars or Continentals, was a paper currency issued by the Continental Congress during the American Revolution. However, there are several synonyms for continental currency that have emerged over time. These synonyms include rebel money, colonial bills, revolutionary cash, and revolutionary currency. These synonyms are often used when referring to the currency that was issued by the colonies during the American Revolution. Despite its importance to the history of the United States, Continental currency had a very short life span and was ultimately replaced by the U.S dollar after the Revolutionary War.
