Coulombs, a unit of electrical charge, can be expressed through various synonyms. The most common among them are ampere-seconds, electrostatic units, and Faradays. Ampere-seconds are widely used in electrical engineering and physics, representing the product of current and time. Electrostatic units, on the other hand, are an older measurement standard but still used in some fields such as electrostatics. Faradays, named after the Irish chemist Michael Faraday, are used in the measurement of electrochemical cells and the passage of current through cell membranes. Other less commonly used synonyms for coulombs include franklins, statcoulombs, and abcoulombs. However, regardless of what it's specifically called, a coulomb is always a specific measure of electrical charge.
