Cuniculus Paca, also known as the paca, is a rodent that's commonly found in Central and South America. There are many synonyms for this animal depending on the region. In Brazil, it's known as the "cutiará" or "paca-congó". In Colombia, it's called a "chucha", while in Peru it's referred to as the "majaz". In other Latin American countries, it may be known as a "tepezcuintle", "jaleb", or "jochi pintado". Despite the variations in names, the paca is appreciated throughout its range as a staple food source and is increasingly being bred in captivity.
