Cynopterus sphinx, also known as the lesser short-nosed fruit bat, can also be referred to as the short-nosed fruit bat, Bengal fruit bat, Indian fruit bat, or sunda short-nosed fruit bat. Despite its name, this bat feeds predominantly on nectar and pollen, making it an important pollinator for many plant species. Found throughout South and Southeast Asia, the Cynopterus sphinx is known for its compact size and short snout. It has a dark brown to blackish fur, with a distinctive yellowish-brown collar around its neck. These bats are known to roost in caves, trees, and buildings, and are an important component of the ecosystems in which they reside.
