Daboia is a venomous snake from the Viperidae family. It is commonly known by several names including the Russell's viper, chain viper, and Indian viper. The Daboia is found in many parts of South Asia and is highly poisonous. It is known for its distinctive pattern and sharp fangs. The Daboia is considered one of the most dangerous snakes in the world. Apart from its scientific name, it has been given many local names in different regions across its habitat. In India it is also known as phoorsa, paplandum, and gokhra. In Sri Lanka, it is called "pala pawa" and in Nepal, it is referred to as "Gorat".
