Dardic language is a branch of the Indo-Aryan language family, spoken in the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent. It is also known as Kafiri or Shina or Shinaki and comprises of approx. 20 languages that are spoken by approximately 5 million people. The Dardic language is considered one of the ancient and diverse languages of South Asia. Some of the synonyms of the Dardic language include Dard, Dard-dialects, Dardic languages group, Dardi, Kafiri, Shina or Shinaki language. Despite being mutually intelligible, the Dardic languages differ in their writing system, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Also, there has been a significant influence of Sanskrit, Farsi, and Urdu on the Dardic language.
