Dhu'l-Hijjah is the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar in which observant Muslims perform the Hajj pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca. This month is considered very sacred among Muslims and holds great significance. Some synonyms for Dhu'l-Hijjah are "Month of Pilgrimage," "Month of Sacrifice," and "Month of Hajj." Muslims world over look forward to this month to take part in the rituals prescribed for them which includes performing the Hajj, offering the Qurbani sacrifice and fasting on the day of Arafat. It is a month of spirituality, self-discipline, and devotion to God and is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the Muslim world.
