Dinornis Giganteus, also known as the Giant Moa, was a species of flightless bird that once roamed New Zealand. There are not many commonly used synonyms for the name Dinornis Giganteus, but some alternative names have been proposed. These include the Big-footed Moa, the Greater Moa, and the Dinornis Novaezealandiae. The Giant Moa was one of the largest birds to ever exist, with individuals reaching up to 12 feet tall and weighing up to 550 pounds. Sadly, Dinornis Giganteus is now extinct, with the last individuals dying out around 600 years ago due to human hunting and habitat destruction.
