Dugong dugon is a species of marine mammal commonly known as the dugong or sea cow. However, there are several other synonyms used to refer to this animal in different regions around the world. In several parts of Asia, dugong dugon is called "duyung," while in Australia, it is referred to as the "gentle sea cow." It is also known as the "sirenian" due to its membership in the order Sirenia, which comprises dugongs and their relative manatees. The dugong dugon is an herbivorous creature that feeds on sea-grass and can grow up to three meters long and weigh up to 500 kilograms.
