The East Caribbean dollar is the official currency of the eight nations that make up the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). It is also sometimes referred to as the Eastern Caribbean currency. Other synonyms for the East Caribbean dollar include EC dollar, OECS currency, and Caribbean dollar. The currency has been in circulation since 1965 and is used in Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla, and Montserrat. As of 2021, the exchange rate of the East Caribbean dollar is pegged to the US dollar at a rate of 2.7 EC dollars to one US dollar.
