Eichhornia Crassipes, commonly known as water hyacinth, is a floating aquatic plant native to South America. It is widely regarded as an invasive species in many regions of the world, due to its ability to reproduce quickly and form dense mats on the surface of water bodies. Some synonyms for Eichhornia Crassipes include floating water hyacinth, common water hyacinth, and pond weed. In addition, it is sometimes referred to as the Nile lily, due to its presence in the Nile River basin. Despite its negative impact on aquatic ecosystems, water hyacinth does have some uses, such as being used as a natural filter for wastewater treatment.
