Eleocharis Palustris, commonly referred to as spike-rush, is a plant species that commonly grows in wetland habitats. As with any other plant species, there are numerous synonyms for spike-rush, including Eleocharis palustris var. acicularis and Eleocharis palustris subsp. acicularis. Some other scientific names of this plant species include Scirpus palustris, and Eleogiton palustris. In terms of common names, spike-rush is known by many names such as creeping spikerush and common spikerush. This plant species is an important wetland indicator plant. It's also used in the horticulture industry for water gardens, sedum roofs, and bioswales.
