The term "empathy quotient" or EQ is commonly used to describe an individual's ability to understand and relate to the emotions of others. However, there are other terms that can be used to describe similar concepts. Some of these include emotional intelligence (EI), which encompasses a range of skills including self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. Another related term is the social-relational aspect, which refers to the ability to form and maintain positive relationships with others. Other terms that are sometimes used include interpersonal sensitivity, social cognition, and emotional responsiveness. Ultimately, these terms all relate to the capacity to connect with others on an emotional level.
