The English Sparrow, also referred to as the House Sparrow, is a common bird found throughout much of the world. While it's official scientific name is Passer domesticus, there are many other names used to describe this small, brown and grey bird. Some synonyms include the European Sparrow, Common Sparrow, Spuggie, Sparrer, and Brownie. In some countries such as India, it is also known as the "Chiraiya" or "Bharatiya Goraiya". Regardless of what name it's called, the English Sparrow is a familiar bird to many people and can often be seen perched on city streets or perched on backyard bird feeders.
