Enthesitis is a medical term used to describe inflammation at the site where a ligament, tendon or joint capsule attaches to the bone. There are several synonyms for this condition, including enthesopathy, ligamentous lesion, tendonitis, tendinitis, tendonopathy, and insertional tendinopathy. These terms are often used interchangeably by professionals in the medical field, although each may have a slightly different connotation.
