Erethizon Dorsatum, also known as the North American porcupine, is a mammal found in Canada, United States, and Mexico. This species is well known for its sharp quills that cover its body as a defense mechanism against predators. Though often referred to by its scientific name, there are several synonyms for this animal. Some may call it a "quill pig" due to its pig-like snout and quills. Others may refer to it as a "hedgehog" due to its similar appearance, though it is not a true hedgehog. In some regions, it is also referred to as a "tree porcupine" due to its ability to climb trees.
