The Evangelical United Brethren Church had several synonyms throughout its history. In 1946, it was initially formed as the Evangelical Church and later merged with the United Brethren Church in 1968, to become the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Some of the synonyms for this church include The Church of the United Brethren in Christ, The Evangelical Church, The United Brethren Church, The United Evangelical Church, and The United Methodist Church. It is notable that the merger between the United Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1968 was one of the biggest ecumenical movements in the world. Today, the United Methodist Church continues to carry on the legacy of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.
