The term "ex-convict" is often used to describe an individual who has been released from prison after serving a sentence for a criminal offense. However, there are several other terms that can be used to describe this same individual without focusing solely on their past convictions. These include "reformed offender," "rehabilitated criminal," "formerly incarcerated individual," and "returning citizen." These terms acknowledge that individuals who have served time in prison have the potential for rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Using more positive, person-centered language can help reduce stigma and facilitate the successful reentry of formerly incarcerated individuals into their communities.
