Extramammary Paget Disease (EMPD) is a rare form of cancer that primarily affects the skin. Synonymous terms for EMPD include extramammary Paget's disease, Paget's disease of the skin, and adenocarcinoma in situ of the skin. These terms are used interchangeably to describe the same condition characterized by the presence of abnormal cells in the skin's outermost layers. EMPD typically appears as a red, scaly rash and may often be mistaken for other dermatological conditions. Although EMPD is most commonly found in the genital area, it can also occur in other areas such as the armpits, abdomen, or anus. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for managing this disease.
