Eyeblink, or the involuntary closing and opening of the eyes, can be described in a variety of ways. A quick flicker of the eyelids can be called a flutter, a twinkle, a blink, a nictation, or a wink. A momentary lapse in vision can also be referred to as a momentary blindness or a temporary blinding. Sometimes, eyeblinks can be accompanied by a sound, in which case they can be called a snap, a crack, or a pop. Alternatively, if someone blinks excessively or rapidly, it can be called a blink spasm or a fluttering. Regardless of how it is described, the eyeblink is a natural physiological response that people experience many times each day.
