The Fairy Penguin, or Little Penguin, is a small species of penguin found in coastal areas of southern Australia and New Zealand. Although technically its scientific name is Eudyptula minor, it is commonly referred to as the Blue Penguin, Little Blue Penguin, or just Penguin. Other synonyms for the Fairy Penguin might include Fairy Blue Penguin, Southern Penguin, or even just Little Penguin. These small penguins stand only about 30 cm tall and weigh around 1 kg, making them the smallest penguin species. They are known for their distinctive blue-grey feathers and white bellies, and their cute and playful behavior has made them a beloved icon of the southern coastlines where they live.
