Fallfish are a type of freshwater fish found in North America. They are also known by many other names depending on their geographical location. Some of the common synonyms for fallfish include silver chub, river chub, blacktail, shiner, and horned dace. In some areas, fallfish are referred to as "poor man's trout" due to their relatively small size and widespread availability. These synonyms have been given to fallfish on account of their shape, colour, or behavioural traits. However, despite the variety of names, fallfish remains an important member of the freshwater ecosystem and is valued by many anglers for its fighting spirit.
