Family Caproidae refers to a unique group of marine fish species characterized by their distinct head shape and bony plates on their body. The Family Caproidae is also commonly known as the Boxfish family, Cowfish family, or Trunkfish family. These names are derived from their appearance - a rectangular shaped body with a boxy head and thick bony plates covering their skin. The Boxfish family includes around ten different species, such as the Cowfish, Longnose Boxfish, and Spotted Trunkfish. They are found in tropical and subtropical waters worldwide and are known for their vibrant colors and unique behavior. Despite having different names, all of the species in the Caproidae family share similar physical and behavioral traits, making them easily identifiable.
