The Scrophulariaceae family, also known as the figwort family, includes a diverse group of herbaceous plants, shrubs, and trees found throughout the world. This family consists of over 3,000 species and 200 genera, with some popular members, including snapdragons, foxgloves, and Veronicas. In recent years, however, the classification and taxonomy of the family have been revised, and many plants previously placed under Scrophulariaceae have been reassigned to other families like Plantaginaceae, Orobanchaceae, and others. Although we may not see the Family Scrophulariaceae used as frequently as before, its plants remain significant and invaluable sources to both humans and the natural biodiversity of our world.
