Febrile Seizures, also known as fever seizures, are a common condition among infants and children. This type of seizure is triggered by a high fever, which causes an abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Some other synonyms for Febrile Seizures include fever convulsions, febrile fits, and acute febrile encephalopathy. In addition, there are two types of Febrile Seizures: Simple Febrile Seizures (SFS) and Complex Febrile Seizures (CFS). SFS seizures are brief and not associated with any neurological abnormality, while CFS seizures last longer and have neurological abnormalities. Although Febrile Seizures can be frightening for parents, most children outgrow this condition by age five.
